# Do local government units (LGUs) or government veterinary offices provide free spay or neuter (kapon) services?

## Do LGUs or government veterinary offices offer free kapon? Sometimes.

Unlike anti-rabies vaccination, **free spay and neuter (kapon) services are not routinely available year-round.**

Many Local Government Units (LGUs), City or Municipal Veterinary Offices, veterinary schools, and animal welfare organizations occasionally conduct **free or subsidized spay/neuter (kapon) programs** as part of responsible pet ownership and animal population control initiatives.

Availability depends on your location, budget, and scheduled outreach activities.

Where can I have my pet spayed or neutered?

You have two options:

### 1. Private Veterinary Clinics

Most licensed veterinary clinics offer spay and neuter procedures throughout the year for a professional service fee.

This is usually the fastest and most convenient option if you prefer not to wait for a scheduled community event.

### 2. Government or Community Spay/Neuter (Kapon) Programs

Some organizations periodically conduct free or low-cost kapon events, including:

- City or Municipal Veterinary Offices
- Provincial Veterinary Offices
- Veterinary schools
- Animal welfare organizations
- Private sponsors and corporate outreach programs

These programs are usually announced in advance and often have limited slots.

#### How can I find a free kapon event near me?

We recommend checking:

- Your City or Municipal Veterinary Office
- Your local government (LGU) Facebook page
- Nearby animal welfare organizations
- Veterinary schools in your area

Many free kapon events are announced through these channels.

#### Does Pawnec maintain a directory of free kapon programs?

**Not at this time.**

Because free kapon programs are temporary, location-specific, and organized by different groups throughout the year, Pawnec does not maintain a nationwide directory.

For the most up-to-date information, please contact your local City or Municipal Veterinary Office or follow their official announcements.
